The secret is in the seal If you’re putting something electrical in a shower zone, the “IP rating” is the only thing you really need to care about. Cheap lamps are leaky. High-end infrared units use thick silicone gaskets and sealed glass. It keeps the water out and the electricity where it belongs. Without that seal, you’re just waiting for the GFCI to trip or the wiring to smoke. Not exactly the vibe you want while brushing your teeth. The engineering bit Now, there is a catch. When you seal a unit tight to keep water out, the heat can get trapped inside with the electronics. It’s a bit of a balancing act. We have to build in specific heat sinks or venting paths so the internal driver doesn’t cook itself while it’s keeping you warm. An easy swap The best part? You don’t need to tear down your ceiling.
