
Making Your Bathroom Actually Warm (Without the Wait)
Let’s be honest: most bathroom heaters are a joke. They spend ten minutes trying to warm up the air in the room, but you’re still shivering while you get dressed. We do things differently. We use short-wave infrared (IR) tech. Instead of fighting with the air, it beams heat directly onto you. It’s basically like stepping into a patch of sunlight on a cold day. No lag. No waiting. Just instant warmth.
Making it “Smart”
Now, you could just flip a switch, but why do that when you can automate it? We hook these heaters up to a Zigbee or Wi-Fi relay. This means you can trigger the heat from an app or a motion sensor five minutes before you even step foot in the room. By the time you walk in, the room feels like spring. But here is a heads-up: this isn’t as simple as plugging in a smart bulb. These heaters—usually between 800W and 2000W—pull a lot of power the second they kick on. If you use a cheap, undersized relay, the contacts can literally weld themselves shut. We make sure the hardware can actually handle the load so you don’t have to worry about your wiring frying.
Getting the Heat Just Right
The best part about IR is how fast it hits peak temperature. It happens in seconds. Because it’s so powerful, we link the heaters to temperature sensors. This stops the bathroom from turning into a sauna in a small space. It just keeps things comfortable. One thing to keep in mind: placement is everything. You don’t want the heater too low, or you’ll end up with “hot spots” that feel like a heat lamp at a buffet. We usually mount them at least 2.1 meters up. That way, the heat spreads evenly across the floor and covers you from head to toe.
The Trade-offs
Nothing is perfect. Moving from a manual switch to a smart system means your electrical box needs a bit more breathing room for the controllers. And remember, infrared is all about “line of sight.” It heats what it can see. If you pull a thick shower curtain closed, you’re blocking the beam, and you’ll feel that drop in temperature immediately. It’s a small price to pay for never having to step onto a freezing cold tile floor again.
